Refineries in maintenance mode boosting gas prices
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – With wholesale gasoline prices at a 52-week high, motorists continue to pay more at the pump.
The Automobile Club of Southern California says Chevron is performing unplanned maintenance at its refineries in El Segundo and Richmond, which has increased upward pressure on prices.
Average pump prices are rising about a penny a day.
In the Inland Empire, the average per-gallon price is 10 cents more than this time last month, and 42 cents more than last year.
The Auto Club said it wasn’t clear how much higher local pump prices will go.
