Phones: 909 running out of numbers
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – San Bernardino County’s Area 909 telephone dialing code once included a large portion of the Inland Empire, but it’s running out of numbers.

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has announced a series of public meetings to discuss the situation and its plans to add a new area code and further downsize 909’s geographic area.

It’s predicted that 909 will run out of numbers by March 2019.

The last major area code change occurred when ‘714’ was moved entirely to Orange County and replaced with ‘951’ in Riverside County.

Area code ‘619’ primarily in the desert cities should not be affected.
