AQMP comes under fire; Perris teachers seek school board recall
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Two public rallies on a pair of unrelated issues are planned Thursday.

When the California Air Resources Board (CARB) meets at the Riverside County Administrative Center, proponents for clean air plan a rally demanding that the CARB make air safe and hold polluters accountable for cleaning up their mess.

The CARB is scheduled to review the Air Quality Management Plan (AQMP) of the region’s Air Quality Management District. Opponents of the plan say it lets some of the region’s largest polluters, like warehouses and the ports, off the hook and puts the cost of cleanup on working families.

In Perris, some parents and teachers plan a 3pm rally to protest the Perris Elementary School District’s refusal to direct the district to settle the contract with Perris Elementary Teachers Association (PETA).

Teachers in the Perris Elementary Union School District have been working without a contract since July 1, 2016. The Perris Elementary Teachers Association and local community members say they will begin gathering signatures in the five trustee areas of the district to recall the school board.
