Local representatives split on TrumpCare
WASHINGTON – (INT) – Two members of the Inland Empire’s congressional delegation offered opposing views on the defeat of President Trump’s plan to repeal ObamaCare.

Democrat Norma Torres called it a victory for the millions of Americans particularly the 300,000 residents of the 35th congressional district who rely on Medi-Cal. “I hope Republicans will now go back to the drawing board, put their partisanship aside, and work with Democrats to fix our healthcare system to lower cost and expand access to care,” Torres said.

Corona Republican Ken Calvert said “The passage of Obamacare was predicated on its failure; the eventual collapse of the system was intended to bring about single-payer, government-run health care.” Calvert said he is “just as committed to enacting health care solutions that protect Americans from the harmful effects of Obamacare as I was yesterday.”
