Supervisors struggle to contain fire budget
RIVERSIDE - (INT) - County supervisors continue to whittle away at a projected 2017-18 budget deficit.
The County Fire Department was on the chopping block Tuesday as the supes voted unanimously to slash its budget by $6 million. It was made necessary by a minimum wage increase and other personnel costs.
The county's revenue stream is still recovering from the housing and property tax melt-down that accompanied the 2008-2010 recession.
