Personal People Meters measure radio audiences
INLAND EMPIRE--Radio station managers and program directors are digesting results of the first audience survey using Portable People Meters.
The PPM’s, which are cell phone-sized sensors, have replaced the long-used Arbitron diaries as a more accurate measure of radio listening habits.
But, Entertainment Editor Bob Sokolsky says a much younger audience is now being included among those using the Personal People Meters.
“Arbitron surveyed listeners down to age 12. With the PPM’s, it will be listeners six and above. Just what impact that will have is not yet known.”
Results of the first PPM survey done over the summer gave Spanish-language station KLYY FM the top Inland Empire rating for the first time.
