Verdict against former deputy modified
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – Former sheriff’s deputy Charles Foster, once convicted of felony assault, was ordered Friday to pay a small fine for his role in the video-taped arrest of the rider of a stolen horse and chase in Apple Valley.

Prosecutors asked that Foster’s sentence be modified after he accepted a plea bargain of no contest to reduced charges of fighting, making noise and using offensive words.

Foster and two other deputies were seen on televised video pummeling Francis Pusok as he laid, face down on the ground with his hands behind his back.

The other former deputies also entered no contest pleas of disturbing the peace and were earlier sentenced to 1-year probation.

Foster will pay $235 for his role in the incident.
