Local politics: Where have all the women gone?
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Elective office in Riverside County is being shunned by more women.

The Center for Sustainable Suburban Development at UC Riverside has found a significant decline the past decade the past decade in the number of women seeking and winning city council seats in Riverside County.

The County Board of Supervisors has been all-male since 1995. At one time, there was a female majority.

In the county’s 28 cities, individual women council members continue to serve.

A panel of women city council members plans a free May 31st seminar at UCR to discuss the imbalance.
