COACHELLA – (INT) - Riverside County authorities warn that a wanted gang member who shot and wounded a sheriff’s deputy is armed and dangerous.

The officer’s attempt to stop Gildardo Davila for a traffic violation led to a pursuit.

Davila, 27, tossed a handgun from his vehicle and then produced another during a foot chase minutes later shooting the deputy before fleeing into a Coachella neighborhood Thursday night.

The officer was given hospital treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
