Security tight for Memorial holiday
People around the country, especially in Las Vegas, are ready for the memorial day holiday weekend.

About 328,000 people were expected to come to the gambling and entertainment mecca. Local experts are concerned after the attack in England. Las Vegas is certainly a target since it attracts so many people from around the world.

The LVMPD guards the strip with not only officers, but cameras, and is increasing patrols through Monday.

The casinos take security very seriously and keep many things about resort security close to the chest. A spokesperson with MGM Resorts said, “We have things that people see, and things that people don’t see.”

Caesars CEO Mark Frissora emphasized the size of the security force at their resorts. “Here, in Caesars Palace, there's probably over 170 ‘sheriffs’, we call them, walking around all the time,” said Frissora. “So as soon as we see something, we immediately have a vigilante force on site at the minute it happens.”

Hotels on the Las Vegas Strip said they amped up security before thousands of people checked in this holiday weekend.

LVMPD says they stay in touch with all the security detail at the resorts and keep them in the loop if there are any perceived threats. (Source: KSNV)
