Purchasing managers aglow over local economy
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – The monthly Purchasing Manager’s Index (PMI) attests to rising enthusiasm over the region’s expanding economy.

Fifty-seven percent of the purchasing managers surveyed by the Institute of Applied Research at Cal State San Bernardino predict an improving economy the third quarter of the year. It is the second highest figure since the inception of the report in 1993. Thirty-five percent predict that the economy will remain unchanged.

Most components of the PMI showing improvement included production, new orders and employment. Supplier deliveries are slowing, a sign that suppliers are busy and are having difficulty keeping up with deliveries, the institute said Thursday.

Overall, the PMI rose six points over the previous month.
