Dog saved from super-heated, locked car
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Children left in locked cars aren’t the only ones susceptible to heat stroke as a spike in temperatures starts to wind down.

Dogs and pets could face similar consequences.

A 2-month-old female pit bull mix is receiving treatment from the county Veterinary Services Division after it was rescued Wednesday from a car parked in downtown Riverside.

Temperatures inside the car hit 133 degrees before two animal control officers freed the dog.

The owner was cited.

So far this year, PETA says at least 22 dogs, including four puppies, have died after being left outside or in hot vehicles.
