Isolated showers give momentary heat relief
INLAND EMPIRE - (INT) - Persistent high pressure responsible for ten consecutive days of oppressive heat is showing signs of breaking down.

An excessive heat warning covers the deserts through Monday. Palm Springs repeated its hottest day of the year Saturday and its 122 degree high set a record for the date. Big Bear’s record 87 was made more bearable with an afternoon thundershower. Showers also brought .05 of rain to Pinion Hills. Residents of Glendale and Studio City also welcomed some light rain Saturday.

The showers were the result of a shortwave, the first sign of the summer monsoon season.

Southern Californians won’t notice much cooling until Tuesday when temperatures will be closer to where they should be for late June. The month should finish on the mild mannered side.
