Motorists dig deeper to ride toll lanes
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Local motorists will find more freeway toll lanes in their future. Transportation planners are expanding the pay-as-you-go approach as a way to ease over-crowding for those who need to reach their destinations on time and are willing to pay for it.
Toll lanes are planned for a stretch of Interstate 10 through the San Bernardino Valley.
The Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) will begin construction next year on the I-15 Express Lanes Project.
It will add two tolled express lanes in both directions within the I-15 median, between Cajalco Road in Corona and State Route 60 in Eastvale and Jurupa Valley, a distance of approximately 15 miles.
The RCTC says the new project underscores its ongoing commitment to expand the express lanes network in Riverside County.
In Corona, some motorists are shifting to the extended Route 91 toll lanes that opened last March. Others remain gridlocked on the general purpose lanes.
