Murrieta targeted for mosquito-control
MURRIETA – (INT) – The Inland Empire's first summertime application of mosquito-control Zenivex is over.
Riverside County Vector Control officials say that truck-mounted sprayers cruised 36 acres of the Monroe Basin bordered by Jackson Avenue to the north and Monroe Avenue to the southwest Thursday evening.
Residents and pets were urged to remain indoors with windows closed during and for 15 minutes following the ground application.
The area was targeted because of the high number of mosquitoes and complaints about them.
Signs were posted informing residents of the control effort.
Riverside County Vector Control Program staff is intensifying mosquito surveillance, searching out breeding sites, and conducting larval control.
