Purchasing managers raise green flag
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – One measure of the region’s economic health shows improvement.

The monthly Purchasing Manager’s Index is up. The Institute of Applied Research at Cal State San Bernardino reports it’s the 7th month that the index has remained above the 50% benchmark. “It’s an indication that the Inland Empire manufacturing sector and the overall local economy remain comfortably in growth mode,” the researchers said.

The purchasing managers surveyed are showing a great deal of optimism about the state of the economy this year. More than a third (36%) predicted that the economy will get stronger in the coming quarter. Sixty percent predicted “more of the same” presumably meaning slow and steady growth, according to the institute.
