TB strikes at another area school
HEMET – (INT) – Another Riverside County school has been hit with an active case of tuberculosis.
County health officials report that one student at Tahquitz High School in Hemet has been diagnosed, is being treated and is expected to recover.
Letters have been sent to the families of about 300 students who might have been exposed to the illness recommending they be screened with a free TB skin test at a clinic being planned later this month at Tahquitz High School.
During the past two years, active TB was found in students at five schools in Menifee, Indio, Palm Springs, Thermal and at Riverside City College. All the students recovered and there were no outbreaks.
