Trio charged in Victorville girl's slaying
VICTORVILLE – (INT) – Prosecutors have taken over the case of three suspects accused in the killing of a 12-year-old girl in her home.

Murder charges have been filed against Anthony Pitts, 26, of Adelanto; Danielle Cummings, 29, of Apple Valley and Reyna Mercado, 28, of San Bernardino. The trio is also charged with shooting at an inhabited dwelling.

Investigators determined there was an ongoing feud between the suspects and the mother of Makiya Walls of Victorville.

Sheriff John McMahon said Pitts is alleged to have driven up their home August 9th and aimed shotgun fire at the residence. Cummings and Mercado were allegedly with him.

Maykiya was not the intended victim.

Makiya’s mother, Maesha Lundy, 35, was initially jailed on a felony charge of making terrorist threats, but Sheriff McMahon did not say if those threats precipitated the shooting. Lundy was not charged.
