Transportation officials and government representatives joined in a celebration Friday to mark the 70th anniversary since Ontario and San Bernardino were linked by Interstate 10. It replaced Highway 99 which was built in 1947. I-10 was the first in the nation to employ a restoration method called diamond grinding which restores the pavement to its near-original condition.
