Job growth hits mid-summer lull INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Local unemployment jumped ahead 6-tenths-of-a-percentage point during July. But job growth over the past 12-months was up a healthy 3-percent.
The State Department of Employment Development (EDD) reported Friday that the jobless rate for Riverside and San Bernardino counties was 6.1 percent in July. Job losses at area schools and colleges were considered seasonal and hit 16,500. Manufacturing, trade, transportation, and utilities added the greatest number of jobs during July. Approximately 85 percent of the Inland Empire’s job growth the past 12 months was concentrated in specialty trade contractors. Story Date: August 24, 2017
