Drug-laden drone seized at the border SAN YSIDRO - (INT) – It’s not unexpected to hear that smugglers are now using sophisticated drones to fly their contraband drugs over the border from Mexico into Southern California.
The Border Patrol has intercepted a shipment of more than 13-pounds of methamphetamine with a street value of $46,000. The drone was seen crossing the border about 2-miles west of the San Ysidro Port of Entry. Agents in an ATV contacted a man carrying a large bag that had several plastic-wrapped packages containing methamphetamine. A late-night search lead to a drone that had been hidden under a bush. The man was arrested and the drone and the drugs seized as evidence. Story Date: August 25, 2017
