Crime heads in different directions SAN FRANCISCO – (INT) – Crime in California last year was a study in contrast, according to an annual report from Attorney General Xavier Becerra.
While violent crime was up 4 percent, property crimes decreased 3-percent. There were increases in homicides, arson and vehicle theft. While the arrest rate dropped, two-thirds of adult felony arrests resulted in convictions. The report noted that the total number of adults on active probation in 2016 was the lowest in 30-years. Complaints against California law enforcement officers rose while the number of officers assaulted in the line of duty increased to nearly 10,000 last year. Story Date: August 31, 2017
