Crime heads in different directions
SAN FRANCISCO – (INT) – Crime in California last year was a study in contrast, according to an annual report from Attorney General Xavier Becerra.

While violent crime was up 4 percent, property crimes decreased 3-percent. There were increases in homicides, arson and vehicle theft.

While the arrest rate dropped, two-thirds of adult felony arrests resulted in convictions.

The report noted that the total number of adults on active probation in 2016 was the lowest in 30-years.

Complaints against California law enforcement officers rose while the number of officers assaulted in the line of duty increased to nearly 10,000 last year.
