Desert storms deliver flash flooding, road damage
TWENTYNINE PALMS – (INT) – A series of locally intense storms is having an impact on desert travel.

Caltrans has cleared and repaired segments of Highway 62 east of here from Godwin Road to Route 177. Mud and debris flows last weekend damaged the shoulders causing erosion 4-feet deep in places.

The stormy onslaught was the most damaging of the summer.

In Palm Springs, streets have reopened following Saturday’s cloudburst. Thirty-one rooms at Palm Springs High school were flooded. Some homes were flooded in the Safari Park neighborhood where waves of water rushed down a hillside.
