Mega-sized water purification plant in the works
CARSON – (INT) – Plans are in the works that could lead to one of the largest water purification plants in the world.

A 500,000-gallon-per-day demonstration facility in Carson opening Monday could be the forerunner for potential future construction of a full-scale recycled water plant.

Under a Regional Recycled Water Program, The Metropolitan Water District would purify treated wastewater through various advanced processes to produce a safe, high-quality water source to replenish groundwater basins in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

The $17 million demonstration facility is located at 24501 S. Figueroa St
