Summertime job seekers left wanting INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Summertime joblessness continued to rise with more people looking for work than finding it.
The unemployment rate combined for Riverside and San Bernardino counties hit 6.2 percent in August. However, over the past 12-months, the 2-county region added 34,100 jobs. The State Employment Development Department (EDD) said almost half were in construction. Among the cities, Beaumont had Riverside County’s lowest rate at 3.8 percent. But just 15 miles away, unincorporated Cabazon had the highest rate at 15.5 percent. In San Bernardino County, joblessness ranged from 3.3 percent in Loma Linda to 9.8 percent in Adelanto.
