Hemet police chief makes a decision
HEMET – (INT) – Retiring police chief Dave Brown ended speculation Monday announcing that he is a candidate for Riverside County sheriff.

Brown said he wants to take politics out of the sheriff’s department and chided incumbent Sheriff Stan Sniff for blaming his deputies and the Board of Supervisors “for his failure of leadership.”

With his 30 years of law enforcement, Brown said he is “prepared to modernize the sheriff’s department, inspire and encourage staff and protect taxpayers.”

Brown accused Sniff of his unwillingness to work with elected officials and stakeholder organizations and expressed concern about the erosion of respect for law enforcement.

Brown announced a kick-off fundraiser September 28th and will step down as Hemet police chief December 28th.
