Salary gap between genders narrows
SAN FRANCISCO – (INT) – The latest numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) show the salary gap between men and woman is California is narrowing.

• In 2016, California women working full-time had median weekly earnings of $814, or 88.0% of the $925 median weekly earnings of men
• Nationwide, women earned $749/week, or 81.9% of the $915 median for men
• At 88.0%, women’s earnings as a percent of men’s in California ranked 2nd highest in the nation
• Women’s weekly earnings in California ranked 9th, and men’s 20th, among the 50 states and the District of Columbia

In 2005, the median weekly earnings for women was 91 percent of that paid to men.
