Hit-run drivers claim two lives, another pedestrian killed in Colton
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Two pedestrians are dead, victims of hit-and-run drivers in Rialto and San Bernardino.

Two women were run down as they tried to cross Foothill Boulevard near Cedar Avenue Friday night. Sandra Kay Somerville, 54, of Rialto later died at a local hospital and the other woman was critically injured. The vehicle that struck them was later found at a nearby apartment. The suspected driver, Desmond Ashley, 38, of Rialto was arrested hours later at a motel in Fontana.

In San Bernardino, police are trying to find a vehicle and its driver who fled the scene of a fatal Saturday night accident. A pedestrian was struck and fatally injured while walking across ‘E’ Street just north of 29th Street. The vehicle was described as a mid-1980’s Toyota Camry, possibly black.

In Colton, another pedestrian has been struck and killed on South Mt. Vernon Avenue. But, the driver remained at the scene and is being questioned. Dead is a 56-year-old Colton man.
