Canyon Fire-2 contained, mop up ongoing
ANAHEIM HILLS – (INT) – More than 600 firefighters are rounding up any embers still smoldering in the wake of the Canyon Fire-2. Wildfire conditions remain severe with low humidity and high temperatures.

The Orange County Fire Authority said Tuesday that the 9200 acre fire had been fully contained, but that mop-up will be ongoing. They want to be certain that all embers are out before the next Santa Ana wind strikes this weekend.

All evacuations have been lifted, schools are back in session and the Route 241 toll road is open.

Residents of homes that were damaged or destroyed are sifting through the ashes. Seventy-three homes and other structures were involved.

Investigators have still not ventured a guess on what started both the Canyon Fire and the Canyon Fire-2 a week apart in the same area adjacent to the Route 91 freeway at Coal Canyon.
