Man linked to 78 robberies sentenced
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – An Indio man is likely to spend much of the rest of his life in prison for his 1-man robbery spree that stretched from Temecula to the Coachella Valley.

Sergio Lopez, 37, was convicted on 50 counts of robbery, burglary, false imprisonment and carjacking.

Lopez picked on shoe and clothing stores, hair salons and barber shops as well as sandwich and yogurt shops during his 6-month long series of holdups in 2010 and 2011.

Losses in each heist ranged from a few hundred dollars to as much as $1,500.

Lopez was initially linked to 78 robberies. He was convicted by a Riverside Superior Court jury on September 14th and was handed a 58 year, 6-month prison term at his sentencing Friday.
