Box Office: 'Justice League' opens with $96M; 'Wonder' amazes HOLLYWOOD - The world's most famous superheroes seemingly lost their powers this week as the big-budget Justice League opened with a sorely disappointing $96 million but still strong enough to take the Number 1 movie spot.
A small feel-good movie named Wonder took the Number 2 position after galvanizing elementary school kids across the country. The $20 million film adaptation of R.J. Palacio's acclaimed children's novel tells the story of a young boy with a facial deformity who attends a mainstream school for the first time. Thor: Ragnarok followed at No. 3. Paramount's holiday comedy Daddy's Home 2 placed No. 4. Fox's Murder on the Orient Express, in its second week, rounded out the top five. Among new openers at the specialty box office, the Denzel Washington-starrer Roman J. Israel, Esq. opened with muted numbers. (Source: Hollywood Reporter) Story Date: November 25, 2017
