Bail bondsmen questioned about riverbottom shooting
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Police are questioning two bail bondsmen about the fatal shooting of a transient they’d been pursuing in the Santa Ana Riverbottom.
According to a police statement, the bail bondsmen were conducting surveillance on the wanted man in the riverbottom near the Van Buren Avenue bridge late Sunday. There was a physical altercation and Adrian Arriaga, 35, was shot in the head and later died at a local hospital. Police and paramedics were called.
The statement made no mention of arrests and, apparently, the bail bondsmen were not injured. Their names were not released.
