Desperate thief collared in riverbottom
A suspected Jurupa Valley vehicle thief is facing an assortment of charges following the fiery end to a chase that left two Riverside officers injured and a sheriff’s deputy sent to a local hospital. Clinton Althizer, 40, ended his desperate attempt to avoid arrest by setting his stolen vehicle on fire in the Santa Ana Riverbottom and then fighting with officers. At the onset of the chase, a deputy shot at Althizer when he rammed the stolen vehicle into the officer’s patrolcar. (INT)
