County farming a $1.2 billion business
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Fruits and vegetables continue to lead the county’s farm production.
An annual report showed the value of the county’s agriculture eclipsed $1.2 billion, a slight decrease mostly because of wheat and hay production in the Palo Verde Valley. Milk and egg prices and production were also down.
County ‘Ag’ Commissioner Ruben Arroyo accented the diversity of the county’s crops. “More than 120 different commodities provided high quality food and fiber to local residents and to over 50 countries worldwide,” he noted.
Riverside County has nearly 200,000 acres of production farmland.
