Storm clean up continues, preparations for future storms
CORONA – (INT) – Some foothill neighborhoods are still cleaning up in the wake of this week’s storm. They were impacted by the Canyon Fire that burned into the lower limits of the Cleveland National Forest last September.

All evacuation orders were lifted Wednesday afternoon and neighborhoods hit by mudflows the day before have been reopened.

But, officials advise that storm preparedness is ongoing.

Debris basins and culverts are being primed for the next winter storm. Those efforts will occur for several days, officials said Wednesday.

They warn the ability of the Canyon Fire burn area may not sustain itself in future storms. The hillsides are more susceptible than normal to mudflow and flash flooding.
