Gasoline price rise escalates
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – After briefly hitting the pause button, the upswing in gasoline prices is surging ahead.
There are virtually no gas stations selling 87 octane for under $3 a gallon. The statewide average is $3.22.
In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is 19 cents more than last month, and 47 cents more than at this time last year. In San Bernardino, pump prices are up 6-cents from a week earlier.
The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports that gasoline demand in early January was nearly four percent higher than at this time last year, and oil prices surged to a three-year high point.
The EIA also predicted that 2018 gasoline consumption could hit a new record for the U.S.
