More charges filed against 'House of Horrors' couple
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – The Perris couple accused of torturing and endangering their thirteen children and adults in deplorable conditions at their home are facing three more charges of child abuse.

David and Louise Turpin returned to Riverside Superior Court Friday to learn of the additional counts and pleaded not guilty.

Records also show the court has received subpoenaed documents from the California Department of Education, Kaiser Permanente Hospital regarding the treatment of the children and from Mt. San Jacinto College where one of the children had attended classes.

California records indicate that David Turpin is the principal of Sandcastle Day School which allegedly was at the couple’s home. Their children were the only students.

A preliminary hearing has been set for later in May when prosecutors will present their case before a judge who will determine if there is enough evidence to put the Turpin’s on trial.

A felony settlement conference was continued until March 23rd.

The Turpin’s were arrested January 15th the day after a 17-year-old daughter escaped from the family’s home and reported that her brothers and sisters were being held captive by their parents.

The Turpin’s bail remains at $12 million.
