Riverside crime takes a dive, burglars ease up
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – The city's crime rate took its biggest drop in 2017 in nine years.
Figures issued Monday showed total reported crimes at 11,702, nearly 10 percent fewer than in 2016.
Incidents of homicide and rape were the only categories with increases last year.
All property crimes were down with burglary leading the way at -15%, the most of any category. Vehicle theft tumbled 10.5%.
Riverside had the fewest reported crimes since 2014.
