EDD: Inland Empire job growth hits 3.7%
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – The year’s first jobless report gives optimism for 2018.
January’s unemployment for the 2-county region was 4.5 percent, only slightly above December’s 4.2 percent. Inland Empire joblessness, traditionally higher than the state and nationwide rates, remained equal. However, January’s IE rate increase was the first since last June.
The State Employment Development Department estimated job growth over the past 12 months at 3.7 percent with the addition of 52,200 jobs, according to a report issued Wednesday.
