Investigators close-to-the-vest on officer-involved shooting
JURUPA VALLEY – Sheriff’s detectives have assumed the investigation into a deadly shooting Thursday involving the Riverside Police Department (RPD).
According to a terse account of the incident, the RPD investigators were seeking a suspect wanted for
a shooting several months ago. They went to a location in the 9900 block of Willowbrook Road where there was a confrontation. Gunfire broke out and the suspect was killed.
No one else was injured.
Riverside police said later Friday that their suspect had been sought since last August when he was alleged to have shot at his ex-girlfriend, but missed. The man was said to be a parolee.
An unspecified number of Riverside police officers were placed on administrative leave.
