Storm triggers rock slide, rain-slick streets
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Storm-related incidents brought travel troubles to motorists in the San Bernardino Mountains Sunday.
Boulders said to be the size of a vehicle rumbled onto Highway 38 near Forest Falls. No one was hurt, but the rockslide closed the highway in both directions at Valley of the Falls for a few hours.
In Corona, police say a rain-slick street caused a motorist to lose control of a Mercedes sending it crashing into a tree on McKinley Avenue late Saturday night. One of two people in the vehicle was killed. He was identified Sunday as Joron Portis, 22, of Compton.
