Shoppers seek sales tax relief INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Where you shop could bring some savings when it comes to sales taxes.
As of Sunday, Palm Springs has the Inland Empire’s highest tax rate at 9.25%. The new rate is .50% higher as the result of a voter-approved initiative. By comparison, many Riverside County cities including Riverside, Temecula, Hemet and Indio are at 8.75%. The San Bernardino County average, which includes the cities of Ontario and Redlands, is 7.75%. The cities of San Bernardino and Montclair are slightly higher at 8 percent. Sales tax on a $100 purchase ranges from $9.25 in Palm Springs (as of April 1st) to $8.75 in Riverside and $8.00 in San Bernardino. Story Date: April 3, 2018
