Reps split on government spending bill
WASHINGTON – (INT) – Riverside’s two members in Congress split their votes Thursday on a government spending bill.

Democrat Mark Takano voted ‘no’ explaining that House Speaker Paul Ryan asked Members to support the bill without allowing a vote on the fate of Dreamers, without allowing a debate on the continued expansion of military combat operations, and without a true accounting of the enormous financial cost of the ongoing war, which is now in its 17th year.

Republican Ken Calvert said the funding bill “provides the necessary resources for our important federal programs. A number of priorities for the 42nd Congressional District and our region were included in the bill, including funding for flood control projects, the earthquake early warning system, and an expansion of infrastructure programs,” Calvert said.
