Motorcyclist killed in police chase
TEMECULA – (INT) – A motorcyclist who tried to outrun the California Highway Patrol for a traffic violation has paid with his life.
According to the CHP, the 51-year-old Palm Desert man had been passing slow-moving traffic on the right shoulder of Interstate 15 in Temecula late Sunday.
The motorcyclist took off in an attempt to avoid a pursuing officer.
The chase wound through city streets of Murrieta until the speeding motorcyclist crashed head-on with a Honda Accord. The motorcyclist was severely injured and later died at Inland Valley Medical Center.
The CHP said the automobile driver was taken to another hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
