Witnesses prove vital in pedestrian's death
HESPERIA – (INT) – Witnesses have led sheriff’s investigators to a vehicle whose driver struck and killed a pedestrian. Authorities announced Thursday the arrest of the suspected hit-run driver.

Deborah Marshall, 61, was walking along the dirt shoulder of Main Street Tuesday morning when a Ford Expedition jumped a curb and struck the woman. Witnesses said the driver failed to stop.

The SUV was found abandoned several miles away.

Investigators later identified the driver as Alonso Regalado, 21, of Perris. He was arrested on a warrant Wednesday night without incident at a residence in Victorville.

Regalado is being held on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.
