Terrorism task force investigates MoVal gun dealers
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – A Moreno Valley couple faces arraignment later this month on an indictment accusing them of being dealers of illegal firearms.
The 70-count indictment alleges that Bearl Leach, 33, and his wife, Sarah, age 27, were manufacturing and selling assault weapons out of their home.
A joint investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI’s Inland Empire Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) began after authorities were tipped off about threats made by the couple.
A subsequent search of their home turned up a variety of assault weapons. Some appeared to be custom designed for the buyer and were unregistered.
The couple was arrested May 8th on suspicion of manufacturing and possessing assault weapons, possession of a short-barrel rifle, and possession of high-capacity magazines. Each is held in lieu of $2 million bail.
Their court arraignment is scheduled for May 25th
