National Guard personnel arrive at border
SAN DIEGO - (INT) – California National Guard personnel are filling non-enforcement support roles along the US-Mexico border’s San Diego Sector.

One-hundred-eight communications specialists, camera operators, vehicle mechanics, intelligence analysts, administration clerks, and range safety officers arrived last week.

Their assistance will allow Border Patrol agents to return to the field and focus on border security, according to a statement released Tuesday.

The Border Patrol is responsible also for preventing the illicit trafficking of people and contraband between the official ports of entry.
