Inland Empire jobless rate hits historic lows
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – The inland region‘s jobless rate has dripped to its lowest point in at least 40-years.

Only 3.7 percent of those looking for work last month, or 75,400, said they couldn’t find any. The State Employment Development Department (EDD) found that in line with both the California and national rates.

Those taking home paychecks numbered just under 2-million in Riverside and San Bernardino counties—combined.

Over the past 12-months, the EDD estimated that the combined trade, transportation and utilities sectors were the biggest gainers adding 17,700 jobs in the Inland Empire. Retail trade boosted payrolls by another 4,900 jobs.

Among the region’s largest cities, the April jobless ranged from 2.9% in Corona to 4.7% in San Bernardino, 3.5% in Riverside and 4.1% in Moreno Valley and 3.4% in Fontana.
