Two perish in freeway interchange crash
COLTON – (INT) – Commuters driving Interstate 10 were forced to find an alternate route Wednesday morning when three vehicles were involved in a deadly incident at the Guthrie (I-10/215) Interchange.
Three of the eastbound lanes were closed as investigators sorted out what happened when a truck and a sedan collided sending one of the vehicles over a bridge railing and into a riverbed. Two people perished.
A third vehicle headed westbound was struck by flying debris.
The crash touched off a small brushfire that was quickly rounded up.
Caltrans dispatched inspectors to check out the integrity of the bridge.
Names of the victims were not immediately available.
