Pomp and Circumstance is in the air
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Diplomas are being bestowed upon thousands of graduates at the region’s two largest universities.

Cal State San Bernardino is surpassed 100,000 graduates over more than a half century during its five commencement ceremonies that wound up Saturday. More than 3,500 students were expected to participate.

“What makes this truly memorable and a credit to our region is that more than 80 percent of our students are the first in their families to attend college or receive a college degree,” said Cal State San Bernardino President Tomas Morales.

At UC Riverside, the 64th commencement will celebrate 5,888 graduates who are eligible to receive their diplomas.

Class of 2018 by degree: bachelor’s (4,930), master’s (578), doctorate (305), M.D. (49), teaching credential (26).

UCR ceremonies continue through Tuesday. UCR’s School of Medicine celebrated its commencement and Hippocratic oath on June 1.
